Passengers traveling from New Jersey to New York must pay a dollar more for each trip after a fare hike that took effect over the weekend. PIX11.
The fare increase was approved by the Port Authority Board in December. It came into force on January 8 and covers the Lincoln Tunnel and Holland Tunnel, as well as the Outerbridge Crossing, George Washington, Bayonne and Goethals bridges. Fare increases are an automatic response to inflation.
For passenger cars, the peak hour toll is now $14,75. Peak periods are from 6:00 to 10:00 and from 16:00 to 20:00 on weekdays, as well as from 11:00 to 21:00 on weekends.
