More than half of Americans have a side hustle. Entrepreneur tells how to start making extra money on the platform taskrabbit.
Many side jobs build on the skills you already have: cleaning, assembling furniture, installing TVs, etc.
Of course, starting a business from scratch is not easy. Many freelancers use third-party platforms, such as thumbtack or taskrabbit, to promote their services and communicate with clients.
Three people who successfully created part time job with the help of Taskrabbit, they told us how they did it.

Tom Saar, a former Starbucks employee, handles moving. Emeli Cepeda, a dental student, offers cleaning and organizing services. Dan Weiss, a retiree, assembles furniture.
Tom Saar runs a moving business
In late 2020, Saar moved from Sweden to the United States to pursue a degree in computer science. He settled in New York City and immediately noticed the abundance of moving trucks.
Saar saw an opportunity to start a business that would make the transportation process better.
The man joined various moving platforms to offer his services to clients, but Taskrabbit has proven to be particularly lucrative. As of June 2024, Sarr has completed over 1000 tasks on the platform in partnership with others and earned over $70 in gross income in April alone.
“Communicating with clients should be at the top of your list of things to become more effective at. Clients don’t want to be left in the dark. If you’re running late, let them know. If something goes wrong, be generous with refunds or compensation. This builds strong relationships with clients. Finally, don’t be afraid to fail. Failures are inevitable, but how you take responsibility for them and learn from them will set you apart and help you grow,” says Saar.
Emeli Cepeda cleans and helps with organization
Cepeda was in her second year of full-time dental school when she began looking for ways to make extra money. She found Taskrabbit in August 2022. Emelie wanted a flexible schedule so she could focus on her course load. The platform provided just that.
Cepeda offers cleaning and organizing services on Taskrabbit. As of August 2024, she was making over $1300 per month — and up to $500 per day for just a few hours of work.
“You can make a ton of money on Taskrabbit if you put in the time and work like I do. I also tend to work a lot during busy times of the year (like moving in September, holiday seasons, etc.) because the need for Taskers is higher, so I make more. Use your time and resources wisely. Make the most of what you have. Make the tasks you do worth it,” she advises.
Dan Weiss assembles furniture
Dan Weiss, 79, managed several home mortgage offices at a major bank before retiring. When he read a newspaper article about a young woman making money on Taskrabbit, he was intrigued. He decided to start working on the platform assembling furniture.
It took about four or five months for Weiss's side hustle on Taskrabbit to become profitable. As of October 2024, he was making an average of $4000 a month on the platform. All while working as much as he wanted.
"Be patient. Treat your clients with respect. Set your prices according to your experience and client base. Lastly, do a good job and be respectful and caring," Weiss recommends.
