Eric Adams' assistant robbed at gunpoint in New York

Amid rising crime in New York, one of the mayor's aides was robbed in broad daylight on July 5 while looking for a location in Brooklyn for a scheduled meeting. New York Post.

The disturbing incident occurred around 10:30 a.m. at a traffic island at the intersection of Navy and York streets.

The crime scene is located between Farragut's low-income homes and the former Brooklyn Navy Yard. The latter is being redeveloped into commercial and industrial buildings worth $2,5 billion.

The brazen stunt occurred despite the fact that Christopher Boe warned that he was a well-connected employee of the mayor's office.

“You don't want to do this. I work for the mayor,” he told the two swindlers.

But as a sign of extreme contempt, they ignored the warning. And one of the attackers pulled up his shirt to show the butt of a pistol tucked into his pants.

The incident began with the fact that 33-year-old Manhattan resident Christopher Boe refused to give up his wallet and mobile phone. He told the robbers, "Get out of the way."

Instead, one of the assailants put a foot behind Bo's back while the other knocked him to the ground.

He failed to persuade him to leave him alone. And they searched his pockets and took away his phone and wallet with five credit cards.

The perpetrators then fled the scene. One of them, a black man in a blue and white sweatshirt, fled on a Citi bike. Another suspect is a black man wearing dark glasses and a blue mask.

After that, Beau walked one block south to the Sands Street entrance to the former navy yard. There he found a security guard and called 911.

Veteran Democratic political consultant Hank Scheinkopf said the fearlessness of the robbers paints a bleak picture of the future.

“New Yorkers would feel much better if the robbers were afraid to commit a crime against a city hall employee,” he said.

Violent crime in the five boroughs is up 37,8% this year compared to the same period in 2021, according to official NYPD CompStat data. And the number of robberies increased even more - by 39,4%.

Bo has been serving as Special Assistant to the Mayor since May 2021. Previously, he worked at the startup Alliance of American Football, which was launched in February 2019. But went bankrupt before the completion of the planned 10-week season, according to his LinkedIn profile.

He has been seen among Adams' official entourage at recent events. And a former colleague from City Hall called him a hardworking worker and an all-round good guy.

Bo declined to comment. But Adams spokesman Fabien Levy said: “Chris works hard every day for the good of the city and he deserves the safety of doing his job just like any other New Yorker. Public safety has been Mayor Adams' top priority from day one. And that's why the NYPD works hard every day to reduce crime,” Levy said.

The mayor wants results as soon as possible. And while progress has been made over the past few months—more than 3000 weapons have been removed from the streets and shootings reduced by double digits—nothing can be fixed overnight.
