The outcome of the primaries will determine who will run for Democrats, Republicans and other candidates, including the race for New York City mayor, in local elections in November. Writes about it Pix11.
According to state law, anyone who wishes to vote in the primaries must be registered with a political party.
Here's a breakdown of the key dates and deadlines to know before Election Day.
Voter registration for primaries
To vote for the primaries, registrations must be mailed no later than Friday 28 May and received by the Election Commission no later than Wednesday 2 June.
You can register in person with your local electoral council or any state agency that participates in the National Voter Registration Act by Friday, May 28th.
Anyone who wanted to change their party affiliation had to do so by February 16, 2021.
Early voting for primaries
Personal early voting for the primaries will begin on Saturday, June 12, and will run until June 20.
Primaries
The primaries will take place on Tuesday, June 22nd.
Voter registration for local elections
To vote in local elections, registration applications must be stamped no later than Friday, October 8th, and received by the election commission no later than Wednesday, October 13th.

You can register in person with your local electoral council or any state agency that participates in the National Voter Registration Act by Friday, October 8th.
If you have recently moved or plan to move before Election Day, change of address notices must be received by your new Local Election Commission by Wednesday, October 13th.
Early voting in local elections
Personal early voting in local elections will begin on Saturday, October 23rd and continue until Sunday, October 31st.
Election Day
Elections will take place on Tuesday, November 2.
Information about absentee voting or voting by mail
Primary mailing requests must be mailed by Tuesday 15 June. You can apply for an absentee vote in person until Monday, June 21st.

Completed absentee ballots must be stamped by Tuesday June 22nd and received by the local electoral council by Tuesday June 29th. The completed absentee ballot may be delivered in person to the local electoral council by anyone other than a voter by Tuesday 22 June.
Applications to vote by mail in local elections must be mailed or submitted online by Tuesday 26 October. You can apply for an absentee vote in person by Monday, November 1st.
Completed absentee ballots must be stamped by Tuesday 2 November and received by the local electoral council by Tuesday 9 November. Military voter ballots must be received no later than Tuesday 16 November. The completed absentee ballot can be delivered to the local election commission by Tuesday, November 2.
