Recently, the author of the channel "Russian American" on Zen.Yandex told what immigrants from Russia cannot get used to in America. She shared the story of Alex, who lived in New York for many years, but then left America and did not get used to the nuances that do not bother Americans at all.

1. Endless rules: don't go there, don't sit here

In America, there are signs with rules at every step. And if a Russian is guided by logic, then an American will live by the rules established by others. For example, if a red traffic light is on at night, but there are no cars, a Russian will immediately run across the road, while an American will stand still, even if the red remains on for a very long time.

In case of violation of the rules, the police will definitely appear. Americans can come to an agreement with them, but if you are an immigrant, the police will visit you for the smallest reasons: music is playing loudly, stomping at night, slamming the door.

3. Credit cards for everyone

If you use cash to pay for your purchase, then everyone from the guard to the seller will look askance at you: you may be a criminal. After all, credit cards in the United States are handed out almost at the airport. You can't figure out where you got your money from in cash, so everyone in America uses a credit card.

4. Lack of friends

In America, Alex often felt lonely, because acquaintances did not develop further than friendships. It was possible to communicate more closely with immigrants from Russia, but each of them, according to Alex, sooner or later also left the United States. Loneliness was the last straw for him, because in 10 years he never made friends in New York.
