Amtrak has launched its Winter Wanderlust promotion, which runs until Thursday, November 13. Discounts of up to 30% are available on dozens of routes across the country, including especially favorable routes for New Yorkers.
Trips under this promotion are available from December 2, 2025, to March 15, 2026, excluding holidays: December 19–23 and 26–30, January 1–4, 16, and 19, and February 13 and 16. All other travel dates are free. The sale includes Coach and Acela Business classes, so you can travel on a budget or in comfort.
Nearby destinations are attractively priced: tickets between New York and Boston start at $59 on regular trains and $88 on the high-speed Acela trains. New York to Philadelphia costs $36, and New York to Washington, D.C., $59. This makes it a great opportunity to spend a winter weekend exploring museums.
But the best deals are for long-distance flights. New York to Chicago for just $63—a great price. Florida is also on sale: Miami to Tampa for $16 and New York to Savannah for $99. A pleasant way to escape to warmer weather, if you don't mind a long journey with transfers.

Other great deals include Baltimore-New York for $56, Dallas-San Antonio for $18, Portland-Seattle for $28, and even Chicago-Los Angeles for $121. Nearly every major route is participating in the promotion, from Northeast Regional and Acela to Coast Starlight, Crescent, Empire Builder, and Lake Shore Limited.
Winter train travel is a special treat: wide seats, large windows, no crowding, and most importantly, no traffic jams. Grab a hot drink in the cafe car and watch the snowy landscapes fly by outside the window, like a living postcard.
