Starting March 5, New York City cinemas will be allowed to open at 25% capacity. It will be the first openings of the city's cinemas since they were closed last spring due to the outbreak of the pandemic.
The administrations of cinemas were obliged to ensure the observance of social distance during the screenings, by seating the audience. In addition, more than 50 people cannot be in the hall during one session.
Also, everyone will be required to wear masks, and the administration of the cinema must provide air filtration in accordance with the recommendations of the state Department of Health.
New York Governor Andrew Cuomo emphasized that it would not be necessary to be tested for COVID-19 to visit cinemas.

Cuomo added that billiard rooms will also open in the state from March 5. They will be limited to 35% capacity in New York City and 50% capacity in the rest of the state. They will also have social distancing rules and a mask mode.
“From day one, we have said that recovering from the COVID pandemic is not a choice between health and economics - it has to be both. And in New York we are demonstrating how to do this safely and intelligently, ”Cuomo said.
“Thanks to the hard work and commitment of all New Yorkers, the infection rate is now the lowest in three months, and, accordingly, we are ready to open a variety of entertainment events throughout the state,” summed up the governor.
