“On Saturday (March 18) in the evening I parked the car. And the next day in the morning we were going to go for a walk with the family. We approached the car, and it just stands on boxes without wheels. All four wheels have been removed. This is a quiet area. And, apparently, this silence helped only those who removed the wheels. The area is calm, it seems, but recently it has become restless, ”said Alex.

He contacted the police, but so far there are no results.

“I immediately called the police and reported what had happened. The police arrived an hour later. And so they investigate. They called the next day and asked for some details,” the man added.

Alex said that he was not the only resident of the area who faced such a problem: “Besides my car, there was another car on the next block without wheels. Both cars are of the same brand, apparently, there is a demand for such wheels. When the police arrived they said it was the fifth or sixth car this week.”

The immigrant learned from his nephew that wheels were stolen in Queens too.

Alex estimated the damage from the theft of the wheels at “somewhere around $2000.”

“My car is fully insured, so I have already repaired it. The wheels were installed, but not for free, but at the expense of the money that I pay for insurance. But I want to say that yes, the police are investigating. They called and asked questions. Maybe a miracle will happen and they will find them,” he said.

Alex stressed that recently the general criminal situation in the city has noticeably worsened.

“I have been living in this city for many years, half my life. And I believe that the city has changed for the worse before our eyes. And in this, probably, there are interested people. Because sometimes chaos satisfies some part of the population. Apparently they allow it. Because in a city where 98% of people work from morning till night and earn money honestly, there is only a small percentage who are engaged in these matters. It turns out that they take up over those who are in the majority,” the immigrant summed up.
