Strawberry season in New York
The New York strawberry picking season starts in mid-late May and ends in early July. The time when the first ripe berries appear depends on how mild the weather was in spring.
Where to pick strawberries near New York City
Fishkill Farms – Hopewell Junction
- Approximately 1 hour 15 minutes by car from Midtown Manhattan.
Strawberry picking season at Fishkill begins in June, advance booking required. There will also be an opportunity to taste cherries, peaches and nectarines.
Glover farms – Brookhaven
- Approximately 1 hour 30 minutes by car from Midtown Manhattan.
Glover Farms, one of Long Island's first strawberry farms, offers strawberry picking in June. Be sure to call ahead to check availability. During the walk you will meet friendly goats roaming around, which will allow you to feed them from your hands.

Lawrence Farms Orchards – Newburgh

Lawrence Farms Orchards starts the strawberry picking season in mid-June. This family farm usually has a hay bale maze and cute goats. The opening of the strawberry picking season is announced in social networks.
Greig Farm – Red Hook
- Approximately 2 hours by car from Midtown Manhattan.
This farm has been growing fruits and vegetables for every taste for decades and does not use synthetic chemicals. Strawberry picking takes place in June. While you're there, stop by the shed to feed the pygmy goats, and don't be lazy to toss some food into the carp pond. Another option for fun: the staff laid out 5 miles (8 km) of trails for running and walking around the territory.
Lewin Farms – Wading River

Lewin Farms was New York's first self-picking fruit farm and has been around for four generations. Strawberries are not the only thing you will find here. VonThun Farms Strawberry Festival – Washington, New Jersey

Strawberry Festival Beacon – Beacon, New York

Mattituck Lions Club Strawberry Festival – Mattitak, Long Island

This 67th annual festival is a great way to spend Father's Day weekend. Strawberries are in peak season and you can enjoy Chocolate Covered Strawberries and Strawberry Shortcake. Other family activities include carnival-style rides and games, live music, and a craft market.
Strawberry Festival by Massapequa Historical Community – Massapequa, Long Island
