The state has published the results of exams in mathematics and English: how to check the performance of the school you are interested in

In New York, published the results of state exams in English and mathematics. For the first time in several years, many families have received their children's state test results. Silive.

The City Department of Education (DOE) released data on 5 New York State English, Arts and Math test scores by grade and demographic on October 2022. Only 21% of students took the exam in 2021, and the year before there was no exam at all due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Given these circumstances, the Department of Education said that fair comparisons can only be made with data for 2019.

Students were rated on a scale from 1 to 4, with 3 and 4 indicating a good level of proficiency in the subject.

How to use it:

1. Enter the first few characters of your school name in the first field. For example, PS 3 or IS 75. Note: dots should be used, as in "PS 50". The tool may not work if you use spaces. Some school names are based on the address, such as Naples Street Elementary School.

2. In response to your request, a list of schools will appear - just select yours from the list.

The search results will show a breakdown of the number of students tested throughout the school, as well as the percentage of students who scored 3 and 4.

General results of schoolchildren's tests in New York

New York City public school students are better at reading now than they were 3 years ago, according to citywide state test scores. But worse than 2019 when it comes to math.

According to the data, 49% of NYC public school students are 1,6 percentage points higher in English than they were in 2019 (47,4%).

But math performance dropped in 2022 compared to 2019. The data shows that 37,9% of students were good at mathematics. This is 7,6 percentage points lower than in 2019 (45,6%).

How to find my child's grades

The results of last spring's English and Arts (ELA) and Math tests for students in grades 3-8 are available through the portal NYC Schools Account (NYCSA).

Just sign in to your student account to view your government test scores.
