January 12, hundreds of New Yorkers went down the subway without pants. This is already a traditional event, with the help of which people try to bring a little positive, smiles and cheerful mood to our busy life. About how everything went this time, we learned from a social network Twitter and thanks to the publication AM New York.
“A ride on the subway without pants” is already a traditional event not only in New York, but throughout the world. This year, such an event was held for the 19th time in the Big Apple.
According to the organizer in Facebook, the main requirements for participation were: the desire to publicly take off his pants and the ability to withstand the straightforward views of other passengers.
How did everything go
The participants met on January 12 at 15:00 on Foley Square in Manhattan.
Then they were divided into groups, each with a metro line and a train carriage in which the participants had to ride.

Upon entering the desired carriage, each participant had to take off his pants and put them in a backpack or bag. During the trip, participants in the event had to behave at ease: for example, read newspapers, watch videos on a smartphone or listen to music.
At the next train stop, the participants had to leave the car and stay on the platform in order to enter the same train in the same car as before. Further, everything was repeated.
As the organizer emphasized, the main goal of the event is to make people laugh, not to anger them.
Public response
The photographs taken during the event show how people in subway trains calmly take off their pants and continue to do their own thing.
Julianne Busher and her husband Christopher, who attended the event, said they experienced a sense of community. “It's fun to connect with other people,” Christopher told the publication AM New York.
Joan Mane took off her pants with her son Ram. “I like taking my child with me and seeing people in their underwear, it's hilarious,” the woman said.
Zach Linder, who's not the first time taking part in such an event, argues that direct behavior and the absence of other distractions besides missing pants is the guarantee that the joke is a success.
At the same time, some passengers who became involuntary eyewitnesses of what was happening did not like it. Many consider this unacceptable, if only because the metro travels not only adults, but also children.
“I'm sorry, but #NoPantsSubwayRide is trending and I'm seriously concerned,” one user wrote. Twitter named Shenny Barboza.
“Now you know that real New Yorkers are not involved in this nonsense. Do you fools know how dirty these seats are? " Twitter with the nickname cesar718hc.
This opinion was shared by another user Twitter with the nickname Athena, which wrote that not a single real New Yorker would want to sit in his underpants alone in the dirty seats on which, for example, the homeless were sitting before.
Recall that the idea to ride the subway without pants came from the art group Comedy Performances Improv Everywhere in New York in 2002.
This year, the participants successfully went to celebrate the event at Bar 13.
By the way, in addition to New York, other cities of America and other countries, including Berlin, Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Lisbon, London, Los Angeles, Mexico City and others, also took part in the trip on the “Without Pants” subway.
