Resistance to viruses and infections: scientists have identified the blood type with the strongest immunity

Scientists from Harvard University believe that the blood type can affect the state of protection of the human body. Depending on the blood type, there may be different production of interferon and, accordingly, the fight against viral infections. The edition told in more detail RBC-Ukraine.

A recent study by scientists shows that blood types do affect the body's ability to produce interferon when a viral infection enters the body. And this is directly related to the protective function of the immune system.

Interferon is a protein that the cells of the body secrete when viruses, bacteria and low molecular weight organic compounds enter.

In people with I and III blood groups, studies showed average results. The human body with such blood types is able to produce 80% and 91%, respectively. This means that such people are protected from the severe consequences of viral infections and other diseases where a good immune system response is needed. Including the consequences of COVID-19.

The owners of the II blood group have the least chance of doing without serious consequences in case of viral infections - only 40%. More than half of people with this blood type are prone to complications after illness.

The strongest, according to scientists, were people with IV blood group. In 92% of volunteers, it was found that interferon is produced in the right amount to protect the body. And sometimes even in excess.

It is with this blood group that people are more resistant to viral infections and are best protected from severe consequences and complications.
