“I just want to thank everyone who helped me push the car away so we can get my son out,” said the victim's father, Dat Phuong.

The teenager was walking with a dog On November 8 along the sidewalk on West Second Street in Brooklyn.

Police say an 80-year-old woman was driving a Chevy on Avenue X when the car's brakes stopped working. The video shows her crashing into a parked car and then her Chevy hitting Phuong.

The boy was bleeding from his head

“This poor kid was screaming, his leg just dangling down,” said actor William DeMeo. At the time of the incident, he was in a building nearby, where scenes were filmed for the series "Gravesend". The actor, like other members of the film crew, immediately rushed to help the victim.

“We lifted the car literally half a meter above the child, he was bleeding from his head, he was lying on the ground. I was very worried about him, but I kept telling him that he would be okay, ”said De Meo, who was assisted by at least 9 other members of the crew.

“He screamed, but the screams got weaker and I thought we should get him out as soon as possible,” said Anthony Guarino, a Brooklyn resident.

Nam Phuong remains in the hospital in critical but stable condition.
