Visitors to Manhattan's federal court and other court buildings in the Southern District of New York are now required to wear either two face masks or an FDA-approved N95 mask. Details of the new requirement told the publication New York Post.

The requirement to wear a double mask was included in the court's plan to counter the spread of COVID-11, published on February 19.
“You must wear either a disposable mask under the cloth, while the edges of the inner mask should fit snugly against the face; or a properly fitted FDA approved KN95 (or N95) mask, ”the document says.
“Scarves, bandanas or masks with valves / vents are not acceptable face coverings. If you do not have approved masks, the reviewer will provide them. No one will be allowed into the premises without a suitable mask, ”the plan emphasizes.

Guards at courthouses, including the Daniel Patrick Moynihan Courthouse at 500 Pearl Street, the US Thurgood Marshall Courthouse at 40 Foley Square, and the White Plains District Court, will enforce this rule.
The plan only applies to federal courts in the Southern District of New York, but other federal judicial districts may also impose similar restrictions.
The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) last week recommended wearing two masks for more protection against COVID-19.
“If you have a coating with one layer and you add another layer, then it makes sense that it would be more effective,” said leading expert on infectious diseases, Dr. Anthony Fauci.
