Top 6 New York City Parks Showing Free Movies This Summer

Summer is in full swing, which means it's time to kick back, invite friends over, and have some fun at one of New York's best parks. With perfect weather and a late sunset, what could be better than watching a movie on the big screen for free. Edition Secret nyc put together a list of free movie screenings in New York this summer.

You heard right, really free! Whether you're in downtown or Brooklyn, there are hundreds of outdoor movies to watch at the local park. Here are some of the parks with free movie screenings.

1. Brooklyn Bridge Park

A series of free screenings of films in the open air “"Movies With A View" returns in 2022! This season, screenings will take place on the Pier 1 Harbor View lawn on Thursdays starting in July. Since films start at sunset (around 20:00-20:30 pm), cinema goers can arrive as early as 18:00 pm to set up chairs or spread out blankets and organize a picnic before the big screening.

2. Bryant Park

Bryant Park hosts many events throughout the year, and the park will once again host outdoor film screenings this summer. Supported by Paramount+ and in partnership with Vulture, the screenings will take place every Monday night from June to August.

In addition to the cinema, food and drink from Hester Street Fair and beer and wine from Stout. Food can be ordered as early as 16:00 and drinks start serving from 17:00. 4. Washington Square Park, Tompkins Square Park +

Originally launched in 2008, the annual Films on the Green French Film Festival has returned to Washington Square Park and 9 other parks around the city. These free outdoor screenings are organized by Villa Albertine, the French Embassy, ​​NYC Parks and the FACE Foundation. 5 Waterline Square Park

The Upper West Side's newest park, Waterline Square Park, hosts a week-long movie marathon from June 13-19. Three films will be shown every day at 15:00, 17:00 and 19:00. Everything from Pixar movies to classic dramas will be shown. And it's the perfect place to watch, no matter who you're with. Seats in the park are on a first-come, first-served basis, so be sure to arrive early with your blankets.
