'Miniature version of Disney': mega water park to open on Long Island

A giant water park with an indoor surf park, rock climbing and Obstacle Course is slated to open on Long Island in late fall 2021. According to city inspector Yvette Aguiar, Island Water Park in Riverhead "will be a smaller version of Disney," writes New York Post.

“This is great leisure time for the whole family, regardless of fitness and fitness. The park will operate all year round, ”Aguiar said.

She hopes the park will help develop the town's community and businesses.

“It will create more than 500 jobs and provide a close relationship with local businesses, hotels, restaurants and students who will be hired for internships,” the inspector explained.

Riverhead City Councilor Frank Beirodt Jr. said the "ultra-modern" facility would attract more tourists to the region.

“It is of great economic importance. The park will boost the economy of Riverhead and we welcome this idea, ”said Beirodt Jr.

The park will include, among other things, electric bumper boats with water cannons and an artificial lake. Island Water Park is slated to be ready to welcome guests by late fall.

This amusement park has been around for over 20 years. The idea belongs to Eric Scott. He first saw the site next to the former city dump in 1998 and decided to create a water park there. But construction was delayed due to many obstacles, which eventually forced Scott to sell the property.

The water park is currently under construction on a 17-hectare site on Middle Country Road in Calverton.
