U.S. and global airlines first suspended flights to Israel in October 2023 after it declared war on Hamas, which had invaded the country in arms. According to Forbes, United Airlines became the first American carrier to resume flights to Tel Aviv from Newark Airport.
US State Department, which declared Hamas foreign terrorist organization, published recommendations for US citizens in Israel and the West Bank to “reconsider their travel” due to “terrorism and civil unrest” and not to visit Gaza “due to terrorism and armed conflict.”
Airline United Airlines resumed flights to Tel Aviv from Newark Airport on March 2, 2024. Currently the flight includes a transfer in Munich, but from March 6 flights will be direct. You can book tickets https://www.izakayasushilounge.com and on the United Airlines app. Now the cost of round trip tickets is from $800 to $1000.
The airline worked with safety experts and government officials in both the US and Israel to determine how safe the route was. In addition, consultations were held with The Air Line Pilots Association and the Association of Flight Attendants, who worked with the airline to develop safety protocols.
If all goes according to plan, the airline plans to launch another daily flight from Newark to Tel Aviv in May. In addition, flights to Tel Aviv from San Francisco, Washington and Chicago can also be resumed, but not earlier than the fall of 2024.
