An elderly man fainted and died shortly after being vaccinated against COVID-19 at the Jacob Javits Convention Center in Manhattan. The incident occurred on February 7, writes Pix 11.
According to New York State Health Commissioner Dr. Howard Zucker, the man in his 70s passed out on his way out of the medical center building, about 25 minutes after his vaccination.
“Initial signs suggest that the man did not have an allergic reaction to the vaccine,” Zucker said.
He added that during the required 15-minute follow-up period after vaccination, the man showed no signs of developing side effects from the injection.
The first responders provided assistance to him “in a matter of seconds,” but the man died.

Neither the police nor the medics provided information on which vaccine was administered to the man. Two drugs are now approved for use in the United States: Moderna and Pfizer. Both of these vaccines are based on messenger RNA technology, which has never been used to create medicines before, so there is no data on the long-term impact of this technology in human treatment. Zucker insists the COVID-19 vaccine is safe and urges people not to be afraid to get vaccinated.
“Public health experts agree that the vaccine is safe, and with continued vigilance, including masking and social distancing, it will end this pandemic. I urge all eligible New Yorkers to get vaccinated, ”he said at a press conference following the fatal incident.
The mass vaccination facility at the Jacob Javits Convention Center has been operating since January 13 and is one of seven in New York City.
