A group of masked thieves carried out a daring robbery of a high-end jewelry store in Brooklyn and in less than a minute stole jewelry worth up to $ 2 million, reports New York Post.

Employees and customers were at the Facets Jewelry store in Park Slope around 17:00 pm on January 8 when three thieves broke in. They started smashing the windows with hammers.

“I'm shocked,” said store owner Irina Sulay. “Honestly, it's very scary. Yesterday (January 8) I couldn't even speak. I was crying, I was shaking. All this lasted 38 seconds. They took two and a half caseloads of diamond engagement rings, new pieces we designed ourselves, and pieces we assembled - Art Deco and Edwardian rings. There were about 100 rings.”

Sulai said the value of the stolen items was between $1 million and $2 million.

“They knew exactly what boxes to take from. They only took big things,” she said.

The owner said she was helping the buyer when the three criminals appeared on the street. Two stood, and the third rang the intercom to get into the store.

“I always enjoy giving people opportunities,” she explained. - It's difficult. You try not to single out anyone on a racial basis, not condemn or discriminate.”

“The guy reached into his pocket and pulled out a hammer – I didn’t even understand how the hammer could fit in there – and said: “This is how you use a hammer.” He broke three of our main storefronts,” the woman added.

She said one of her employees reached for her phone: “She was shaking so she handed the phone to me and then the guy at the door yelled, “Don't move! I'll shoot you!"

Then the three fled with the goods and are still wanted.

As a result of the robbery, no one was physically injured, and the thieves threatened with a gun, but did not get it

But Sulai said the incident still left employees and customers in a deep shock.

“Just yesterday we talked about the new year, that it will be good. And eight days later, a crazy situation happened,” she said. “This is a business run by women. We are all mothers."

Jeweler called for more NYPD foot patrols in a normally quiet neighborhood that has recently been rocked by other crimes.

“The police here are great when they get down to business… But we need more cops patrolling the streets,” Sulay said. “It feels like we are alone.”

Gina Tarigo, who works in the back office of the store and was there at the time of the robbery, said she had never been so scared.

“I have lived in New York all my life and have never felt so insecure,” she said. What is the mayor doing? This is ridiculous. We have to do something about it.”

The owner is “praying” that the police will track down the robbers, but she said that now the store will only work by appointment until security is increased.

“I'm so scared that I don't even open the door for my regular customers,” Soulay said.
