The air show was staged by the famous Thunderbirds, US Air Force Demonstration Squadron and Blue Angels, US Navy aerobatics team. During the show, airplanes of the elite demonstration squadrons of the armed forces paid tribute to the emergency services, medical personnel and other workers in key areas of New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania.
At lunchtime on Tuesday, April 28, 12 fighters - six from the Blue Angels and six from the Petrel - flew over New York, Newark, Trenton and Philadelphia. The air show lasted 35 minutes.
US Air Force Lt. Col. John Caldwell, Petrel Group Lt. Col. and Flyover Commander, said in a statement: “We hope to show the Americans a touching display of American determination that will pay tribute to those who serve on the frontlines of our fight against COVID-19.”
Blue Angels Commander and Flight Director Brian Kesselring added that it is an incredible honor for them to be able to salute those on the frontline of the epidemic. “We are in awe of your strength and resilience. Thank you to all those in the main industries supporting the advancement of our country. We will cope with this together, ”he said.
This show was the first of several planned for the coming weeks across the country. It is part of the America Strong tour, designed to honor those at the forefront of the US epidemic.
