New York will train nurses for free to cover the shortage of health workers

New York Governor Katie Hawkul announced on November 18 a scholarship program for New York State and City Universities (SUNY and CUNY). The Nurses For Our Future Scholarship will cover the training of 1000 new healthcare providers. The program is designed to help address the shortage of medical services and workers in hospitals across the state, says the official website the governor.
Opportunity for 1000 students
Since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, hospitals have faced labor shortages and a massive influx of patients. The program is designed to recruit and train the certified nurses that the state needs most.
There are currently over 9300 registered nursing vacancies in New York State. Thanks to the Nursing for Our Future Scholarship, an additional 1000 potential students will be able to enroll in SUNY or CUNY for this specialty. They will be able to study on a flexible schedule, part-time or full-time. These conditions are intended to provide incentives for New Yorkers in the health care sector to improve their skills and advance their education through the SUNY or CUNY system.
