And now we can see how the building looks from the inside. New York firm Studio Sofield unveiled the interiors of the Steinway Tower.

The 91-story skyscraper, also known as 111 West 57th Street, contains 46 one-story and two-story residences. On the photographsreleased by designers this month show opulent lobbies clad in limestone, marble, black steel and velvet; floors paved with smoky gray solid oak; and original pieces by Picasso and Matisse on the walls.

Steinway Tower's interiors are designed to recreate the grandeur of New York's Golden Age, according to Studio Sofield. This is the period of the late XNUMXth century, when the stately mansions of robber barons such as Andrew Carnegie and Cornelius Vanderbilt stood along the city boulevards.

Studio Sofield founder William Sofield said he wanted the skyscraper to have an unmistakable New York feel.

“We've all been to luxurious places. But I wanted to create a building that couldn't be found anywhere else in the world,” he said. – I know that many people who bought apartments here may have several houses. And I wanted to create something special that you can only find in New York.”

Residents of the complex will enjoy a 25-meter swimming pool located in a light-filled room with floor-to-ceiling windows. It also has a branch of the legendary New York bar King Cole with an ornate balcony and custom gold and silver murals.
Other amenities include private dining rooms with a chef's kitchen, a golf simulator and a landscaped terrace.

“I've always been very personal about my work,” Sofield said. “Take the swimming pool, for example… I didn't want it to look like a regular pool. It is finished with beautifully detailed wood paneling and gold leaf details. It has a vaulted ceiling. There are draperies… So it's not like any swimming pool you'll find in New York.”

With a 24:1 height to width ratio, the Steinway Tower has been described by its developers as "the world's thinnest skyscraper". The facade of the tower is made up of terracotta blocks. This material changes color and texture under different lighting conditions and from different angles.

It is also one of the tallest buildings in the Western Hemisphere, second only to two other buildings in New York: the World Trade Center at 541 meters and the Central Park Tower at 472 meters. Apartments in the Steinway Tower skyscraper range in price from $7,75 million to $66 million.
