A bathhouse and a hidden restaurant with our delicacies: how to relax in Russian in New York

This bathhouse partially belongs to Dasha and her husband Chris. They are the third generation of owners.

Baths. According to Dasha, many passers-by on the street pay attention to an advertising sign with the inscription Russian and Turkish Baths (268 E 10th St, New York, NY 10009) and go here. Once inside, people are surprised: you can not only relax here, but also eat deliciously.

There are three rooms indoors: a regular sauna, an aromatherapy sauna and a Russian room. There is also a pool filled with ice water.

Among the services provided are various wellness treatments: therapeutic massage, salt and mud peels, the use of a bath broom and more. These procedures promote good blood circulation and allow you to cleanse not only the body, but also the mind.

Kitchen. In the restaurant’s kitchen, chef Leon prepares classic Russian dishes. He came to New York three years ago and decided to stay, because he likes to live and work here, and his clients - the way he prepares various dishes of Russian and Ukrainian cuisine for them. In particular, here you can order Ukrainian borsch or olivier for $ 6, pancakes for $ 7, Siberian dumplings for $ 9, dumplings with various fillings (for example, with potatoes - for $ 8), beef stroganoff for $ 12 and much more.

According to Leon, people really like borsch, and they order it every day.

Russian breakfast is also popular. This is a very satisfying dish - pancakes with chicken and mushroom filling, decorated with red caviar, boiled eggs, salmon, as well as pickled herring and beef sausages.

Here you can even order Ukrainian beer Obolon and Golden Barrel.

Leon said that primarily focuses on the quality of products.

“We have no goal to buy more food, I buy fresh products every day,” he said.

The establishment has an outdoor patio. There are sun loungers where people spend time in the warm season. In this courtyard, they eat, drink, smoke and just chat with each other.

Celebrities who have been here. Considering that this place is already 128 years old, many, including celebrities, have managed to visit it. For example, there was the honored actor of the Russian Federation Alexander Frisch, the famous American actor John Davis (John H. Davis), the President of Finland Martti Ahtisaari (Martti Ahtisaari), the Hollywood actor Matthew McConaughey and many other public people.

Today, people still come here to relax, improve their health, drink, socialize and go home happy.
