It's almost that time of year when snow blankets the streets of New York City. In anticipation of winter, the Department of Sanitation has reopened its hiring for emergency snow removal positions.
Emergency snow clearers are working in shifts to clear snow and ice from bus stops, pedestrian crossings, fire hydrants, and streets with ladders following heavy snowfalls during the 2025–2026 winter season.

Salary
The hourly rate is $19,14 for 40 hours and $28,71 per hour for overtime. Candidates must be 18 years of age or older, have work authorization in the United States, and be physically capable of performing heavy physical work.
