New York to open a playground where you can study animals

The Science Play Area will soon open at Pier 26, located on North Moore Street in Manhattan's Hudson River Park. Recently published renders make it clear that it will be a very cool place to stay, reports Time-out.

Designed by Olin, the new 370-square-meter playground is a great addition to other projects at Pier 26. It will also provide children with educational and entertaining spaces all year round. The site is dedicated to marine and scientific topics.

Among the many attractions there will be a couple of custom-made play structures in the shape of endangered species of sturgeon that live in the Hudson River. Visitors will be able to climb inside each of them to literally touch the anatomy of a sturgeon. There will also be many other exciting activities.

Financially, the construction is carried out through the partnership of private and public funds.

“This playground will give the youngest New Yorkers a glimpse of Hudson's wildlife. And give them the opportunity to interact with the marine habitat that surrounds our neighborhood,” said Manhattan President Mark Levin. “Through this playground, Hudson River Park is raising the next generation of environmentalists. And this is extremely important for the future of New York. I am proud that we can use my office's funding to support such a project.”
