Bus overturned in New York: 36 passengers were injured

A school bus carrying bus drivers who work for New York's summer children's programs overturned on the Hutchinson River Parkway in the early hours of July 21. According to the authorities, as a result of the accident, more than thirty people were injured to varying degrees. NBC New York.

There were no children on the bus. There were 37 adults there when it crashed on Hutch. The tragedy happened just north of the Cross Bronx Expressway, near exit 1a around 6 a.m. Three of the 36 victims were seriously injured.

On July 21, Mayor Eric Adams released a statement confirming that the bus had been ordered by the city's Department of Education. “The safety of every member of our community is our top priority. Fortunately, no one was seriously injured. In addition, there was not a single student on the bus,” Adams noted.

Of the 37 people who refused medical attention at the scene, the driver was the only one. An NYPD officer explained that the driver was driving too fast on the exit ramp. This is what caused the bus to overturn.

The driver was issued a summons for dangerous driving, officials said.

Bus operator Consolidated Bus Transit said its safety officials were investigating the accident.

“The safety and well-being of our employees is our top priority right now,” the statement said. “Consolidated is proud to be a safe and reliable transportation company that has been providing transportation services in New York for over 40 years. We will work with the police and the Department of Education to determine the cause of the accident.”

The injuries were mostly associated with bruises and pain in the neck and back, officials said.

According to them, the victims were able to get out of the car on their own.
