New Yorkers who qualify for SNAP (Food Stamp) food assistance starting Jan. 15 started getting extra money.
New York State Gov. Kathy Hokul announced last week that the state will provide an additional $230 million in federal funding to SNAP recipients.
Each person enrolled in SNAP will receive the maximum level of benefits this month, regardless of their income level and the amount of benefits they received before. So a family of four can get $835 a month.
