New York temporarily lifts alternative parking rule

As previously reported Forum Daily New York, snowfall hit New York and New Jersey. Record rainfall caused traffic congestion. Also, hundreds of people spent the weekend in long waits at the New York airport due to flight delays. Due to bad weather, it was decided to suspend the alternative parking rule in New York until the end of the week. PIX 11.

The city's Department of Transportation (DOT) announced on Feb. 1 that alternate parking rules would be suspended until Feb. 5 to help with snow removal. The parking meters will work.

Alternative parking has already been suspended on Monday and Tuesday for city holidays and also due to snowfall. The Alternate Parking Rule requires car owners in New York City to move their cars to a specific side of the street to pick up trash and clean the other side.

According to Accuweather meteorologist Alan Reppert, most of the snowfall in the Big Apple was in the 17-25 cm range. For example, in Central Park, snow cover reached 21 cm. In some areas of Queens, however, more than 30 cm was observed.
