New York launches free bus to Adirondacks: it will start operating this weekend

New York Governor Kathy Hokul has announced the launch of a new free bus that will take you to the Adirondacks to admire the fall foliage. He will start working this weekend. Shuttles will run the first two weekends of October from Frontier Town Gateway to Giant Mountain, Roaring Brook Falls and Rooster Comb trails, and to the Marcy Field parking lot, according to the official website of the Governor of New York.
“The most beautiful fall foliage in the world is here in our state. And New Yorkers deserve to enjoy the scenery in a safe and comfortable way,” Hokul said. “To ensure the safety of residents and visitors to the Adirondacks, New York and our many local partners are launching a new October shuttle. It will help prevent congestion on the overcrowded roads in High Peaks.”
The shuttle gives tourists the opportunity to admire the autumn foliage without having to travel to and park in busy areas.
This is one of many initiatives being implemented in the Adirondacks and Catskills this year to help protect public safety.

The new free shuttle stops at the same places as the tourist shuttle Route 73 by Marcy Field
This route is designed to reduce the amount of unsafe and illegal parking on Route 73. The October shuttle will circle around on October 1st and 2nd and October 8th, 9th and 10th from 7:00 am to 19:00 pm. Dogs are not allowed on the shuttle. Each shuttle has a capacity of 20 passengers and seats are available on a first come, first served basis.
The Route 73 tour bus runs on Saturdays, Sundays, and bank holidays until Columbus Day (October 10) weekend from 7:00 AM to 19:00 PM. Reservations are not required. Stewards work at Marcy Field to help tourists navigate the shuttle system.
