Thousands of townspeople have staged the COVID-19 pandemic, urging New York to do a spring cleaning. The number of garbage complaints in 2020 almost doubled compared to 2019. Patch.

As New Yorkers began to emerge from quarantine last summer, they noticed more and more debris all over the city. The city's cleanliness, or lack thereof, has become such a hot topic that cleaning has become the mainstay of Mayor Bill de Blasio's efforts to accelerate the city's recovery.
About 10 new urban workers - the City Cleaning Corps - are ready to pick up trash and perform other landscaping work. The program is funded by federal funds and costs $ 000 million.
“People will be removing graffiti there, decorating parks, helping our wonderful streets to be as beautiful as possible,” said de Blasio. "We have so many things to do and now we have a dedicated team of New Yorkers to make the city shine."
But whatever the power of the program, there are likely to be workers in many hot spots.
Dirty parks
According to 311, the vast majority of garbage complaints during the pandemic came from city parks.
The data shows that there have been more than 1 garbage complaints in parks since January 2020, 5.
Brooklyn had the largest share of complaints with 1, followed by the Bronx with 899 complaints.

Between April and June 2020, New Yorkers filed 1045 garbage complaints - about the same as in the same period in 2019.
But from July to September 2020, the number of complaints increased to 2 832. According to the data, for the same months in 2019 there were 1440 of them.
The city hopes to recruit 10 people hired by City Cleanup Corps by July, which may coincide with another spike in garbage complaints.
De Blasio said officials are also planning to support community groups to carry out their own cleanups.
“A lot of people just clean it up themselves,” he said during a recent briefing. "We want to help people who help us."
