New York Mayor Election: Fresh Candidate Ratings Ahead of Primaries

There are two weeks before New York's Democratic mayoral primary, and poll leaders are constantly changing. Edition NBC New York told who is now in the lead in the race for the sympathy of the townspeople.

“When I win, you win,” said Eric Adams after learning that he won the lead in the last poll.

“I don't watch polls. I do not allow my team to talk to me about the polls, ”Adams added.

The poll shows Adams ahead of Andrew Young by six points, Catherine Garcia in third place, ahead of Scott Stringer, Maya Wiley, Dianna Morales, Ray McGuire and Sean Donovan. At the same time, 16% of voters have not yet decided who they will vote for in the primaries on June 22.

It is worth noting that the poll, however, was conducted before Wylie received loud support over the weekend from Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.

“It gives Wylie some good support. The question is whether that's enough, ”said Doug Muzzio, an analyst at Baruch College.

Analysts like Muzzio say voter turnout may be the deciding factor in the primaries. According to polls, public safety remains the main concern for voters.

Previously, Adams accused Wiley and Cortez of being too liberal, which he called “dangerous for the city” amid a sharp increase in the number of shootings. Later Adams softened a little.

“Look, I take off my hat to Cortez - we know what wrestling is,” Adams said. Regarding Wiley, he said, "The difference between the two of us is that she only has a prevention plan."

Wylie has pledged to stop the rise in violence without current tactics such as using the NYPD to fight riot.

“I am the only candidate in this race who has a clear stance on police reform,” Wiley said, adding that Adams attacked her campaign “because we urge to invest in communities.”

There is still a lot to be done, with two full weeks left before the June 22 primaries. Even the man who currently holds the position that all candidates are vying for, Mayor Bill de Blasio, agreed that the race has just begun, as many New Yorkers are still undecided about their choice.

“I truly believe that a lot of people will make a decision in the last day or two,” he said, calling this year's election “the most active race of mayors I've seen in my life.”
