NYC woman carries 23kg dog in backpack to comply with subway rules

A woman from New York and her pet have gained unexpected popularity on social networks. The reason was a video about how the hostess carries her 23-kilogram pet in a backpack, reports New York Post.
Jackie Hornung, who shared a video carrying her adorable Samoyed dog, Lumi, touched the heartstrings of millions of TikTok users.
Lumi settled comfortably in the backpack. His fluffy head sticks out, and his paws lie on the shoulders of the hostess when she enters the New York subway. The video then shows a train ride where Lumi towers over her owner's back, quietly enjoying the ride.
The one and a half year old Samoyed, whose name means “snow” in Finnish, loves to be worn. And while in a backpack, she remains “pretty calm,” Hornung said.

The video, which has been viewed more than three million times, left netizens in awe of Lumi. But besides this, it also raised the question of why such a large dog needs to be carried with you in a backpack.
“Dogs in the New York subway must be in bags! That's why Lumi is in the backpack,” read the text overlaid on Hornung's video.

As bizarre as it sounds, Hornung is right and follows the law.
“No one has the right to bring an animal onto any vehicle or facility unless it is in a carrier or bag,” reads the MTA Passenger Conduct Rules.
TikTok users asked if Lumi was tight in her backpack. But Hornung assured worried commentators that the backpack is “quite spacious” and the dog can sit comfortably inside.
“Everyone pets him, and he really likes it,” said the hostess.
The American Kennel Club describes Samoyeds as "graceful" and "highly functional" dogs with a "perpetual smile". They are smart and sociable, but at the same time mischievous, they require attention and affection.
After posting the video, Lumi got his fair share of attention from TikTok users
“He’s so fluffy,” one user commented.
"He's so damn cute, like you're carrying a cloud in your backpack," wrote another.
“NGL is the safest car for the train, because the good mood cloud will calm all the passengers,” joked another follower.
It wasn't just Lumi that received praise, users praised Hornung's ingenuity.
“I love it when I see how people made this rule so vague,” commented one.
“You are undoubtedly an amazing dog owner. It’s not only cute, but also selfless,” another enthusiastically responded.
