New Yorkers whose relatives have died from COVID-19 can get $ 9000 in funeral expenses

In April, a federal program should start in New York that will allow people whose relatives have died from COVID-19 to receive more than $ 9000 in compensation for funeral expenses. The details were told by the edition New York Post.
The Federal Emergency Management Agency will open a reimbursement fund for claimants on April 12.
US lawmakers first announced the initiative in early February 2021, announcing that FEMA will provide $ 2 billion in compensation for the cost of the funeral. 200 million from this fund will go to New Yorkers.
Once the program is launched, applicants will need to call the FEMA Special Hotline - (844) 684-6333 - for instructions on how to apply. They must be prepared to provide a death certificate and documentation of funeral expenses.

Reimbursable expenses include the purchase of a coffin or urn, a burial site, a gravestone, as well as fees for cremation, transportation, funeral ceremony, and clergy or officials.
Anyone who has lost a loved one due to coronavirus can apply. Citizens, lawful permanent residents (green card holders), refugees and non-citizens are eligible to apply. The deceased does not have to be a US citizen.
In New York, about 50 residents have died from the coronavirus during the entire pandemic.
