New Yorkers are bracing for the cold, but long-term forecasts show that the next few months will be warmer than usual. And maybe less snow will fall, reports Silive.
The seasonal temperature forecast from the National Weather Service notes that there is a 40% to 50% chance that the New York winter in 2022-2023 will be warmer than usual.
At the same time, AccuWeather predicts that New York will experience less snow than usual during the winter.

Last winter started almost without snowfalls. The cyclone then contributed to an increase in total snowfall towards the end of January. But even the cyclone could not change the situation and in New York last winter snow fell much less than the norm. The result of last winter was less than 45 centimeters of snow.
There will be more snow this year
AccuWeather expects New York City to experience six to nine days of snow. And the amount of snow will be from 45 to 58 centimeters. Usually, up to 70 centimeters of snow falls in the city during the winter.
Below average amounts of snow are also likely in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and Washington DC.
However, according to AccuWeather forecasters, this year's winter forecasts may not be very accurate. The fact is that this is the third winter in a row, which is affected by the weather regime of La Niña.
“These Year XNUMX La Niños are very treacherous,” said Paul Pastelock, AccuWeather senior meteorologist.
However, he is confident that the winter will be warm.
“I think that in the future, despite the fact that we are in [phase] La Niña, it may be too warm in the middle of the season for it to snow often,” said Pastelok.
