On New Year's Eve, crowds of people will again gather in Times Square to welcome 2023. Through more than a ton of confetti, they aim to see the Waterford crystal ball descend. This annual tradition dates back to 1907. New York Times.
This year's celebration will mark the return to all regular entertainment after two years of reduced events due to the pandemic. However, there was one unusual event in last year's holiday. Mayor Eric Adams took the oath of office in Times Square after his inauguration was delayed. In 2020, only a small number of frontline workers and their families were allowed to attend the event.

What time will the celebration start
The celebration will start shortly before 18:00. Around this time, the ball will be placed on a pole in Times Square. The ball drop, which will take 60 seconds, will start at 23:59.
Many celebrants come in the afternoon to take their seats for viewing. Entrance to the viewing platforms is carried out on a first-come, first-served basis.
Who performs in Times Square
Chelsea Cutler and JVKE will play the musical roles. The Chinese American Friendship Association and dance group ANEW will also perform. Other performances will be broadcast on various TV channels.
How can you watch the ball fall from home
You can watch the event online at TimesSquareNYC.org from 18:00. The broadcast will last six and a half hours, without commercials.
Many TV channels are ready to broadcast live New Year's Eve from Times Square. Ryan Seacrest will host ABC's "Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve" which airs at 20:00 pm. Anderson Cooper and Andy Cohen hosted the CNN event, which also starts at 20:00 pm. Miley Cyrus from NBC teamed up with Dolly Parton to air around 22:30 pm.
Fox & Friends Weekend hosts Will Kane, Rachel Campos-Duffy and Pete Hegseth will co-host Fox News Channel, which will air from 22:00 pm to 1:30 am.

Is it possible to see in person
The launch of the ball can be seen along Broadway, from 43rd to 50th streets. It will also be visible along Seventh Avenue north to 59th Street.
No ticket required. You should be aware that there are no portable public toilets there. So some wear diapers.
