According to her, the traffic on the streets did not “turn into an apocalyptic hellish landscape,” which critics predicted.

“The worst fears of people did not materialize, and I hope that this will become an example for other parts of the city,” Trottenberg emphasized.

As noted, buses running on 14-th street make 27 thousand trips per day. After the ban on cars, which began to operate on October 3, the bus speed here increased by 30%.

It is noted that the initial launch of the 18-month pilot program was postponed for three months due to a lawsuit by the quarterly associations West Village and Chelsea. It said that residential streets as a result of traffic restrictions are supposedly bogged down in traffic jams.

According to Trottenberg, this did not happen, and "the results were even more than impressive." She noted that in the end, not only increased the speed of buses, but in general it became calmer on this street.
