Actress Mary Mara, best known for ER, Nash Bridges and Law & Order, has been found dead in a river in New York. NBC News.
Police believe Mara, 61, drowned while swimming in the St. Lawrence River in Cape Vincent on the morning of June 26, her body was found in the river around 8 a.m. that day.
“Mary was one of the best actresses I have ever met,” wrote the actress’s agent Craig Dorfman. She was energetic, funny, real. Everyone loved her. We will miss her."
Mara made her television debut in 1989 in Preppy Murder, the same year she landed a small role in Steel Blue. Popularity came to her in the 1990s, thanks to roles in the series ER and Nash Bridges. The actress also appeared in the series Law & Order, NYPD Blue and The West Wing.
She won the 2003 Monaco International Film Festival award for Best Supporting Actress for her role in the short film Em and Me.
Mara studied acting at the University of San Francisco and the Yale School of Drama.
