Bulgakov, magic tricks and Jewish theater: Kings Bay Library invites to summer programs

The Kings Bay Library (3650 Nostrand Ave.) invites you to summer Russian-language programs. This summer will be filled with Bulgakov's works, funny magic tricks and Jewish theatre. Most importantly, it's all free.
Saturday, July 8: Mikhail Bulgakov
July 8 from 14:00 to 15:30 will be held musical and literary program dedicated to the work of Mikhail Bulgakov.
The historian Stefan Mashkevich and vocalist Veronika Kaninska will perform for the guests. You will hear a story about the most interesting moments of the life and work of the writer - not a dry scientific lecture, but a live story with musical accompaniment.
For each theme, the organizers have selected a unique musical epigraph - a work that is in tune with this theme and era.

Wednesday, July 12: Magic Day
On July 12, from 15:00 to 16:00, the magician Evan will perform for the children. He will make things disappear, read your mind and make the impossible possible.

Saturday, July 15: Jewish theater
On July 15 at 14:00, a meeting with Alexander Sirotin-Lakhman will begin and the presentation of his new book “The Jewish Theater Says Goodbye ... and Does Not Leave”.
Alexander Sirotin-Lakhman is a Russian and American actor, director, writer, and journalist. In the 1960s–1970s, he worked as an actor at the First Moscow Regional Drama Theatre, as a freelance artist at the Moscow State Philharmonic Society, taught at the Correspondence People's University of Arts, was the artistic director of the course on the basics of variety direction, director of the Mosconcert Creative Workshop of Satire and Humor, and director of the All-Russian Creative Workshop variety art (VTMEI).
In 1978 Alexander emigrated to the USA. Worked as a freelance correspondent for Radio Liberty, author, editor and presenter of Russian-language programs for the New York radio stations Horizont, WMNB radio, an employee of the television companies RTN/WMNB and NTV-America.

Saturday, August 12: Kyiv and Baku
On August 12 at 14:00 there will be a meeting with two interesting writers - Genrikh Golin and Pyotr Nemirovsky.
They will talk about their new books dedicated to the topic of Baku (G. Golin) and Kiev (P. Nemirovsky), about the past and present of these cities, about what touches and excites their residents and guests.
