Expensive sculptures by Azerbaijani artist missing from hotel in New York

The colorful sculptures, worth over $1 million, have mysteriously disappeared while on loan from a luxury Manhattan hotel, according to a lawsuit. New York Post.

The well-known Azerbaijani sculptor Fidan Bagirova provided 4 unique works to the Nomo Soho Hotel back in 2017.

Zina Sapir, then wife of Nomo Soho co-owner Rotem Rosen, asked the artist to help bring color to the space.

“Sapir and Rosen agreed to keep the sculptures and return them,” Bagirova said in her lawsuit.

Bagirova insists she does not know when the sculptures disappeared. And hotel representatives say they can't get answers because of staff turnover. The missing works are “A Bouquet of Miracles and Holidays”, “A Bouquet of Joyful Life”, “A Bouquet of Graceful Beginnings” and “The Blue-Yellow Sunflower of Liberty”.

The elegant 26-story Nomo Soho Hotel has been a celebrity attraction with breathtaking views of the city skyline. Among them are Kendall Jenner, Kardashian, Hailey Baldwin and Jonah Hill. It also hit the headlines in May. It then became the first hotel in the country to offer NFT bookings.

The artist is seeking damages of at least $1,2 million.

Bagirova's lawyer declined to comment. Nomo Soho Hotel and Sapir did not respond to messages.
