How Immigrants Get Free Legal Aid in New York: List of Organizations

Due to the pandemic, many immigrants require legal advice on immigration or work matters. Documented published free or low-cost resources.

We have compiled a list of organizations that provide advice or free legal help immigrants in New York State. Please contact them and ask your questions.

Community organizations

1. ActionNYC: All New Yorkers can use this service. She offers free advice and assistance on immigration issues. To schedule an appointment, call 1-800-354-0365 from 9 am to 6 pm, Monday through Friday. Or call 311 and say ActionNYC.

2.DACA: New York City announced legal aid to immigrants who wish to renew their DACA application. The city authorities can even cover the costs. Additional information is available here to register:.

3. Housing CourtA: If you have a problem with your landlord, you can call Housing Court at 212-962-4795.

4. New York City Office of Civil Justice provides free legal services to tenants, immigrants, low-income workers, and other New Yorkers facing civil legal issues.

Here is the national database organizations providing legal assistance. Below is a list of organizations in New York.

NYLAG: An organization that provides legal advice and representation in immigration, labor law, domestic violence, evictions, claiming benefits, etc.

Immigrant Protection Project Is an organization that provides legal advice to immigrants who have been charged with crimes or arrested by ICE. Hot line - 212-725-6422, callers are asked to leave a voice message with a number for feedback.

LIFT: Legal Information for Families Today offers virtual and telephone assistance for divorce, domestic violence and juvenile custody. They are available from 9 am to 5 pm. Here is the number: 212-343-1122.

New York Alliance Against Sexual Violence: free consultations. You can write to them by e-mail: [email protected] or call 212-514-SAFE (7233).

NMIC provides free bilingual (Spanish / English) legal services (immigration, housing, family rights related to domestic violence and consumer debt).

Justice for workers

Immigrant Legal Resource Center (ILRC)

Legal Resource Center for Immigrants mainly involved in training and assisting lawyers in their work to assist immigrants and their families. They do not directly represent clients and do not provide one-to-one legal advice.

New York Institute for Peace
