The Metropolitan Opera presented a charity performance on March 14 in support for Ukraine and its brave citizens. All proceeds from ticket sales and donations will go to support relief efforts, according to the official website. Metropolitan Opera.
Music Director Metropolitan Opera Yannick Nézet-Séguin led the orchestra and choir, as well as sopranos Lisa Davidsen and Elsa van den Heever, mezzo-soprano Jamie Barton, tenor Piotr Bekzala, bass-baritones Ryan Speedo Green and Władysław Buyalsky. - The national anthem of Ukraine performed by Vladislav Buyalsky (bass-baritone)
- "Prayer for Ukraine" performed by Valentin Silvestrov
- Adagio for Strings by Samuel Barber
- "Va, pensiero" from the opera Nabucco by G. Verdi
- Four last songs of Richard Strauss performed by Lisa Davidsen (soprano)
- Finale from Beethoven's Symphony No. 9, Op. 125 performed by Elsa van den Heever (soprano), Jami Barton (mezzo-soprano), Piotr Bekzal (tenor) and Ryan Speedo Green (bass-baritone).
