Hundreds of cities in New York State refuse to legalize marijuana: a list

More than 400 cities across New York have decided to block the opening of local marijuana dispensers and on-site parlors as the deadline approaches. This is reported by the edition PIX 11.

Law, legalized recreational marijuana in New York, gave municipalities the right, until December 31, to “opt out” of opening pick-up points or lounges for on-site consumption after deadlines were set.

The Rockefeller Institute said that three weeks before the action, more than a quarter of New York City's cities and 31% of its villages voted to become marijuana-banned cities when it comes to dispensaries - at least initially. The number of rooms where marijuana is used is slightly higher.

On the list of those who refused:

• over 30 villages in Nassau County;
• about 20 towns or villages in Westchester County;
• more than a dozen villages;
• several towns in Suffolk County.

The Rockefeller Institute, a nonpartisan public policy research arm of the State University of New York, has launched a "marijuana withdrawal tracker." It allows users to search individual towns and villages to see if they have quit using marijuana points and / or onsite halls.
