Hundreds of people in their underwear will run around New York this weekend

Cupid's Undie Run is an annual charity run. Its participants are ready to get naked in the cold for a good cause. They take to the streets of dozens of cities to raise money and draw attention to the problems of people living with neurofibromatosis (NF), a genetic disease that causes tumors, reports Secret nyc.

When is Cupid's Undie Run in New York?

This year the race will take place on February 11th. The festivities kick off in the DL at 11:30 a.m. with a party full of booze and dancing to get the participants excited to run the nearly mile around Pier 84 in their underwear.

The race itself will start at 14:00 pm. And when the contestants cross the finish line, it's time for another dance party to celebrate the end of the challenge.

How to register

You can register as an individual or with a team at site of the event. Registration fee is $45 per person. Don't really like running? It's OK! You can still show your support as a virtual runner or donate.

Why the race is held in underwear

The event's website explains it this way: “We run in underwear because NF patients can't hide their tumors. They can’t put on clothes to feel more comfortable, so why should we do that?”

In its 13 years of existence, Cupid's Undie Run has brought together 108 runners in 600 events. In total, more than $255 million was collected during the existence of the action.

So far, New York has raised $24,9 out of a stated goal of $88 this year. All proceeds are directed to NF research through the Children's Tumor Fund. More about the Children's Tumor Foundation and its research can be found here.
