Bank of America blocked the accounts of the Russian Consulate General in New York. This was stated by Acting Consul General Vyacheslav Slavkin. He clarified that due to the freezing of financial resources, Russian diplomatic representatives cannot pay for "elementary things", including utilities, insurance and gasoline, writes News.ru.
“We have frozen all accounts in Bank of America since March 16th. We are completely limited in paying for utilities - for gasoline, we cannot pay for insurance. We cannot pay for the elementary things necessary for the functioning of the Consulate General, ”Slavkin explained.

“The Russian Consulate General in New York does not have an opportunity to open an account in an American bank,” Vyacheslav Slavkin said.
He clarified that neither Bank of America gives the consulate access to blocked accounts, nor other American banks agree to open new accounts for the Russian diplomatic mission.

In connection with these circumstances, the provision of all consular activities at the Consulate General is carried out only in cash, and money orders are temporarily not accepted, it says on website of the diplomatic mission.
