Gotham Whale, a maritime education organization, reported that the whale was seen on Monday and Tuesday. The group urged the boatmen to slow down and be careful.
“In recent years, whale sightings have become more frequent on New York's waterways. This may be due to improved local water quality and an abundance of food sources, ”says the NYC Department of Parks social media page.
It notes that these whales are considered an endangered species.
