New Yorkers are invited to ride a vintage train amid spectacular views of the Hudson

As the Secret nyc20th Century Limited Returns to New York this Fall! His first flight took place in 1948. It was once known as the most famous train in the world.

Organized by the United Historical Society of New Jersey Railways, Inc. (URHS), this rare journey will allow all gourmets, day travelers and history buffs to take a unique guided tour in vintage carriages that are over 80 years old.

History

First, a little background. The 20th Century Limited train was first commissioned by General Dwight D. Eisenhower (yes, the one who was the President of the United States) in 1948 at Grand Central Station. Known for its contemporary design and luxurious services, the train was only accessible to a select few. Its passengers were great people - from Marilyn Monroe to Walt Disney, who traveled from New York to Chicago.

Hickory Creek, the last of the iconic train's refurbished passenger carriages, will travel from New York again October 2, 3, 9 and 10. The trip to the north of the state will only last a few hours.

Travel (on Hickory Creek or Tavern-Lounge № 43, both vintage carriages) will start from Penn Station. Guests have exclusive access to Amtrak's new Metropolitan Lounge. The train leaves the station at 11:20 am and will take about two and a half hours to travel to Albany. In the cabin, passengers are scheduled to serve food and drinks. Most importantly, there are truly unique views of the Hudson River.

After a two-hour journey, you can explore the city if you like, or wait at the train station. The train returns at 16:30 pm to arrive in New York by 19:00 pm.

Yes, this means that on the way back you will see the sunset over the river! At the end of the journey, the cars will follow the same tracks as 20th Century Limited trains from 1902 to 1967.
