If you think you have seen everything in New York, perhaps we will surprise you. There will be a rain of toy elephants in the Big Apple next week. The reason is the fifth annual Dumbo Drop. Where to look at this touching sight, said the publication Secret nyc.
The whimsical tradition of throwing thousands of stuffed elephants from rooftops over Washington Street in Brooklyn will return to DUMBO on Friday, June 2, 2023.
Each year, different artists create parachutes for elephants. This year's parachute designer is Lucky Risograph.
Dumbo Drop will be divided into two parts: 18:00 - DUMBO DROP; 19:00 - DISCO DROP. Entrance costs between $20 and $25. You can reserve your seat at link.
$25 entry includes a toy elephant, a limited edition parachute, and a souvenir calendar for 2023. Proceeds from the event will go to PS307 Elementary School and Dock Street Middle School.
“We love this Brooklyn tradition,” said Alexandria Sika, president of the Dumbo Improvement District. “To raise such important funds for schools and come together is something unique!”
Among the participants of the event the following prizes will be drawn:
- accommodation at 1 Brooklyn Bridge Hotel and dinner at The Osprey;
- a private party for twenty people at Beat the Bomb;
- cocktails at the newly opened Gair on Washington Street;
- Taste of Front Street lunch package;
- free six-month membership to Gleason's Gym;
- Summer of Coffee gift certificate.
How to win? Very simple. The elephant that lands closest to the goal - the prize mark - wins.
Winners will be announced after each drop on Instagram @dumbo_brooklyn.
In addition to the fall of the elephants, there will be other exciting activities throughout the day, including live performances, treats from Taste of Dumbo and plenty of fun for the kids.
