New York covered with snow: a winter storm caused problems on the roads and in the sky

Winter storm Kenan hit New York on January 28 and 29, throwing over 30 cm of snow in parts of the city. By 19:00 p.m. on January 29, the storm moved north and hit eastern New England. This is reported New York Post.

According to Accuweather meteorologist Alan Reppert, most of the snowfall in the Big Apple was in the 17-25 cm range. For example, in Central Park, snow cover reached 21 cm. In some areas of Queens, however, more than 30 cm was observed.

Bayside has had one of the most significant rainfall accumulations. As of 19:00 on January 29, 32 cm of snow fell. According to Accuweather, in Middle Village and in airport 32 cm of snow fell on behalf of John F. Kennedy.

In Brooklyn, the strongest accumulation was recorded at Bay Ridge. There, the height of the fallen snow was a little less than 30 cm.

Woodrow on Staten Island measured the peak accumulation of snow in the region of 25 cm.

In the Bronx at Trogs Neck, the rainfall was 23 cm.

Long Island was hit harder by Storm Kenana. The storm crept up the Atlantic coast, with parts of Suffolk County registering over 50 cm of snow and Deer Park with 53 cm of snow.

The Jersey Shore was also hit hard, with 49cm of snow recorded at Beechwood in Ocean County.

According to FlightAware, 29 were canceled in the US on January 4 flight. On January 30, about 2000 flights were stopped.
