The Pennsylvania Railroad, which owned the historic Penn Station, was ruined, with its monumentality and beauty not inferior to the Grand Central.

In fact, the original building, built in 1910, was one of the architectural highlights of New York City. The neoclassical wonder had a pink granite exterior, Corinthian marble columns, and arched windows.

Today that building would certainly have been considered an inviolable architectural monument, but then, in 1963, it was demolished without looking, despite public protests.

The city had previously planned to renovate Penn Station. However, MTA has more important plans, such as the construction of a metro, so the townspeople seem to have to wait.
