Brooklyn Kite Festival is the best family event of spring

Many colorful kites will fly into the sky in a frame Sound & Color!, a free spring festival in Brooklyn. According to Time-out, the event brings together people of different ages, religions and cultures.

Brooklyn Bridge Park Conservancy is hosting a family event on May 18th at the park from 11:00 a.m. to 17:00 p.m. Last year's festival attracted more than 5000 people, so organizers expanded the event this year. It will include additional musical performances throughout the park. While kite flying at Pier 5 is the main attraction, there are additional children's activities to enjoy.

You can bring your own kite, purchase one on site, or make one yourself at a workshop during the event. Even if you've never flown a kite before, the festival's experienced instructors will help get your craft soaring into the skies above Manhattan. At the master classes they will talk about how to make kites in the Caribbean traditions.

As for the music, visitors can expect an energetic live performance from the Eruption Steel Orchestra. In addition, Igmar Thomas (maestro, trumpeter and conductor) will oversee additional live performances throughout the park. Keep an eye on the event website for a full schedule coming soon.
